Our History

The foundation of what is now Summit Bank began in Magnolia in late 1996. It was in Magnolia where the original bank charter for Horizon Bank of Columbia County was granted. In February of 2000, Horizon Bank of Columbia County changed its name to Summit Bank. A dedicated group of community bankers wanted to create a bank committed to helping their customers reach the pinnacle of success. The philosophy was simply that people work hard for their money and we should work just as hard to protect it and make it grow.

What has happened since that time is nothing short of remarkable. Summit Bank has grown to over one billion in assets and into a 20-branch banking network serving all the financial needs of Central and South Arkansas. Our success has been the result of a unique strategy that combines a focus on customer service and conservative principles with a deep commitment to remaining a community bank at any size.
